As the warmer temperatures approach, it’s time to talk about something before it’s too late: toenail polish. This is my first opinion piece, so feel free to disregard anything I’m about to say!
Nails are a big interest of mine, which includes daily cuticle care, manicures every three weeks, and pedicures every four to six weeks (depending on the season). Do I think you need to get a manicure as often as I do? Definitely not-though I wouldn’t mind if you went every week! Just kidding. But seriously, let’s talk about toes.
Now, I’m not here to shame anyone-if you love a little jazz with a red or hot pink, go for it! But if you’re ever feeling undecided or disappointed with your nail color, I strongly suggest giving nude a try. I’ve converted a few friends, and they’ve never gone back to another color on their toes since.
Nude nails range from light pinks and beiges to taupes and soft browns. I've been getting nude toenails for about fifteen years, and I’m never getting another color. A nude nail is a better investment. They don’t clash with any sandals, they always look clean, chips (if you’re not using gel) are less noticeable, AND they don’t draw attention to your feet. I don’t know about you, but I don’t need anyone’s eyes wandering down to my toes. My eyes are up here, people!
Still tolerating this post? Another thing I do is get gel on my toes, and let me tell you, it’s been a game-changer. What’s the worst part of a pedicure? When your polish gets ruined right after you move to the dryer-or even worse, when you try to put your socks on and they get ruined then. This can all be avoided with a gel pedicure. The second they finish painting your toes, you’re good to go! It’s such a thrill, totally worth the extra $20! If that doesn’t convince you, think regular polish lasts long on your toes? Try gel-it will stay perfect until your next visit.
Need a color suggestion? I get CND 92 - Uncovered. Not sure if they have that? Have no fear-there’s always OPI's Bubble Bath.
PS: Not into color? You can always opt for a pedicure with a clear coat of gel. It still gives that clean, buffed look! And for the men reading-treat yourself to a manicure or pedicure at least once a year. You don’t have to go for polish, and you might even end up liking it!
Happy Spring!
Yes! I find if I get a nude that’s a little lighter than my skin, I look tanner too.
I take a similar minimalist approach to my fingernails when I colour them - OPI Samoan Sand for the win!
